Hey, I'm Chloe. The maker behind ClayWithChlo!

I am 27 years old and created clay jewellery as a form of creative release from the burdens of everyday life.

I studied Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts which gave me creative freedom, something I knew I wanted to continue no matter my line of work.  Finishing university during the pandemic definitely caused a lot of confusion in terms of career goals. The usual opportunities were abandoned and things didn't turn out as planned.  Now, I have a better career direction, working part-time gives me the flexibility to create unique jewellery styles and test them out at craft fairs.

But why make a hobby into a business?

In February 2022 I sadly lost my aunty, a creative soul who always encouraged and inspired creativity in me from a young age. Holidays were spent in France together; painting, shell collecting and finding other beach materials to turn into memorable crafts. The day was never complete without returning to the cottage to bake some well deserved brownies and talk about what we wanted to make next. With the heart breaking news of cancer that quickly became terminal, it felt as though there wasn’t enough time spent together and so much more knowledge she had to give. My auntie was a keen jewellery maker and I took it upon myself to continue her passion and combine our skills to make clay earrings. This side line hobby has now been made possible by inheriting tools and supplies collected over the years by my aunty.

The power of positivity

Craft fairs and markets have been such a confident boost for getting my jewellery out into the public. Knowing the beauty and quality of my items is appreciated by so many of you has given me driving force to pursue jewellery making full-time.

With your support I hope to expand on this business in the future, creating homewares, paintings and wall hangings. If you want to join me on this new journey you can follow me on Instagram @claywithchlo.

Please bear in mind all the items listed are handmade from start to finish, this does mean that they may differ slightly from the original image however I do my upmost to ensure quality and likeness is maintained throughout.

Lots of love,

Chlo x

In loving memory - Aunty Ali
